정기총회를 마치고 저녁식사(한국관)를 함께 하며
동지애를 다지고 덕담을 나눴습니다.


‘임을 위한 행진곡’으로 한 해를 마무리하고


내년에는 더욱 발전할 것을 다짐하며 모두들 가슴 뭉클한 시간을 가졌습니다.
처음 나오신 (유공자)회원들도 계셔서 더욱 반갑고 흐뭇한 자리였습니다.

2000년대에 태어난 저에게는 조선시대 만큼 옛날로 느껴졌던 역사였습니다. 역사시간에 그저 시험을 위해서만 의미 없이 날짜와 얼굴도 모르는 사람의 이름을 외우고 시험이 끝나면 까먹기 일쑤였죠. 하지만 오늘 5.18을 추모하며 몇 가지 영상을 보니 과거의 제 자신이 너무나도 부끄럽게 느껴졌습니다. 5.18이 없었다면 아마 지금의 제가 민주 항쟁을 하고 있을지도 모르니까요. 당시 자신을 희생하면서까지 오늘의 제가, 오늘의 대한민국이 있게 해주신 분들의 노력을 잊지 않겠습니다. 역사를 잊은 민족에게는 미래가 없다는 말이 뼈저리게 느껴지는 하루일 것 같습니다.

1980년 5월 17일, 종로에는 술취한듯한 군인들이 수 많은 트럭을 타고 군가를 부르며 가고 있었습니다. 아마도 광주로 가는 군인들로 짐작 됩니다. 그후에 미국에 살며 한국을 그리며 광주사태에 막말을 하는 자들을 저주하며 40년을 살았습니다. 언제나 우리는 전두환과 그 잔당을 처벌하고 나라를 바로 세울수 있을까요?
